NaN Story

NaN Story

How we started

NaN Teas began in late 2024 in Rotterdam, with a simple wish: I wanted to work with something genuine that something from home that might make people smile.

That “something” turned out to be Taiwanese tea. A way to bring joy and connection through something real. Because everyone deserves a good cup of tea.

The name “NaN” carries deep personal meaning. It’s both my mother’s and my daughter’s middle name, a quiet tribute to love and strength across generations.

“NaN” also stands for “Not a Number” in computing, a symbol of the undefined. For us, it reminds everyone that everything has its own value and rhythm. We are all unique and we want our teas to celebrate that. It’s also an invitation to enjoy life at your own pace.

In Chinese, “NaN” means “South” , reflecting the warmth and relaxed vibe that we hope to share through our teas.

Our Value and Philosophy

At NaN, we believe quality tea should be within reach and you should not need to be an expert to find a good tea fitting your taste. That’s why our approach is simple: clear choices, no confusion, just tea you can trust and enjoy.

We also believe in doing things the right way. We source directly from farmers in Taiwan, offering authentic, high-quality teas that are fairly priced and thoughtfully chosen. From respecting our farmers to caring for the environment, most of our packaging is recyclable or composable, reflecting our commitment to sustainability.

This is how we started. And this is what we hope to share with every cup: authenticity, warmth, and a little pause in your day.
